Patricia de Lille will resume her duties as Cape Town mayor, following a ruling by Judge Patrick Gamble.

Gamble has ordered that De Lille should remain as mayor and as a councilor, pending the outcome of a separate court process on 25 May.

The judgment was delivered at the The Cape Town High Court on Tuesday.

De Lille had brought an urgent application to the court after the DA rescinded her membership and removed her from her position last week.

In the interim, Ian Neilson had been made acting Cape Town mayor and expressed intentions to appoint his own mayoral committee.
