Body of 12-year-old girl killed by law enforcement vehicle lay in road for hours

An investigation's underway after the body of a young girl, struck and killed by a law enforcement vehicle, was not removed from the scene for several hours.

The incident happened on Tuesday, close to the farmland area in Philippi.

The SAPS told Breakfast with Kieno Kammies that the delay was due to a non-arrival of an emergency vehicle, which falls under the Department of Health.

It appears that there was one dispatcher short in the centre and this call particularly was one of the calls that was not attended to sufficiently.
