Interfaith leaders plan peaceful march in response to fatal mosque attack

Religious leaders across faiths in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) say they are united in the fight against attacks on places of worship.

They are planning a peace march in Verulam following the deadly attack at the Imam Husain Mosque and a bomb that was found there last week.

Religious leaders from the National Interfaith Council of SA (NICSA) and those from the Muslim community held a joint briefing on their plan to deal with attacks on worshippers.

The leaders say the attack on the mosque has affected the safety of the broader Verulam community.

Activities at the mosque in Verulam have been halted but alternative arrangements have been made for congregants.

Religious leaders within the the Muslim community suspect that the targeting of the mosque has been a sectarian attack.

There isn't a concrete plan as far as security is concerned.
