'We have the right to examine the behavior of activists'

Equal Education has been hit by yet another sexual misconduct case.

The Mail&Gaurdian reports that co-founder and treasurer Doron Isaacs is facing multiple sexual harassment allegations, this after General Secretary Tshepo Motsepe resigned amid similar claims.

Isaacs has denied any wrongdoing.

Despite being good standing members of society, Joanne Joseph says activists like Isaacs should be subject to scrutiny.

There are a few warning bells ringing here, these Doron Isaacs rumors are supposedly over a decade old. The Mail&Guardian has interviewed 12 women, it says, who tell similar stories.

If the speculation has been flying for this long, why hasn't anything been done to create a safe space where women who say they have suffered this abuse can be heard.

There is a certain amount of trust we put in people like this because they fit the mold of individuals who are supposed to be just the opposite of heartless and self-seeking.

Joseph says despite the good work they do, the public still have the right to examine the behavior of these men and to be critical of it.

Iit is possible that despite being committed to the plight of school kids, it is possible that their behavior toward women could be questionable and if that turns out to be true they do not deserve our sympathy, if they are guilty they deserve to be dragged from their pedestals.
