Speaking to John Maytham, EWN Reporter Lindsay Dentlinger said the Auditor-General did not mince his words.

The Western Cape has the largest concentration of municipalities with clean audits at 70%. He has noted that the City of Cape Town has regressed in the year under review. But in general a very bleak picture of the country's 257 municipalities, in fact being in the worst state they have ever been.

She added that the Auditor-General pointed to the North West as being one of the worst provinces when it comes to municipalities being run badly.
