'We thought carefully about our donkey gift to Burundi NGO' says France

EWN reporter, Jean-Jacques Cornish says according to French ambassador Laurent Delahousse they thought carefully about their gift to the Burundian NGO and state that donkey's are the land cruisers for the animal kingdom and they were meant for transportation.

They say donkey's are the land cruisers for the animal kingdom and thought about this very carefully. Belgium also gave some donkey's to another project and there hasn't been a complaint, they added.

This comes after a rural Burundian NGO received a gift of ten donkeys from France.

Burundian authorities are hitting back at France, it has nothing to do with the donkeys. Diplomats say it has nothing to do with the donkeys but the French criticism of the referendum of this month that gives President Pierre Nkurunziza the power to stay in office until 2034.
