'Viagogo charged me four times the price for my stadium tickets'
Many South Africans are discovering the downside of buying tickets via ticket reselling site Viagogo.
Viagogo is an international site which sells tickets at inflated prices, explains consumer journalist Wendy Knowler.
The site is usually the first to appear in the search results for tickets online.
Most people have not done their research about Viagogo before they purchase tickets on the platform, Knowler. says.
She advises that consumers should always be informed about the face value of the tickets they wish to buy.
The site claims that it is not the ticket seller, but rather the platform to facilitate transactions between the buyers and sellers.
Viagogo's quoted prices do not make clear upfront the additional fees and charges that consumers are required to pay to when ordering tickets.

Cape Town resident David Preutz says he was ripped off by Viagogo after buying tickets to the Springboks’ final Test against England at Newlands taking place in June.
Neither Computicket nor Newlands had tickets up for sale at the time, but the very first website that came on Google search was Viagogo.David Preutz
