Suspect accused of murdering 9-year-old KZN girl appears in court

The man accused of being part of a foiled hijacking in Shallcross, Durban appeared in court on Wednesday. Sibonelo Mkhize is one of three men involved in a shootout with the father of 9-year-old Sadia Sukhraj.

Sukhraj died in the crossfire.

Mkhize is facing two counts of murder, theft and kidnapping.

The second suspect was found dead on the scene - while the third criminal is still on the run.

Eyewitness News reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo was in court.

When his lawyer appeared before the magistrate, she was detailing how her client has been assaulted by authorities at the Durban central police station.
