Was there a knot in curling iron cord? State poke holes in Jason Rohde testimony

As the case against businessman Jason Rohde continues in the Western Cape High Court, the prosecution has been poking holes in his story in order to establish what really transpired on the night of his wife's death.

Rohde is accused of strangling his wife Susan at a work conference held at the Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch in July 2016. He has pleaded not guilty and claims that she committed suicide.

EWN reporter Shamiela Fisher gives an account of the court proceedings:

He is sticking to his story that he was trying to get ready for a work function scheduled for that Sunday morning and he noticed that the bathroom door was locked from the inside. He says initially he didn't think much of it because he thought his wife was taking a bath.

He says he eventually realised that something was not right because there was no sound coming from the bathroom. He tried to open the door and even tried to call his wife but there was no answer.

He called reception and they sent a handyman Mr Daniels who used a screwdriver to open the door.

Rohde says his wife used a curling iron cord to kill herself. But Fisher says the State has been questioning Rohde's testimony, stating that there was no postmortem evidence which suggests that the cord was tightly knotted and adds it was easy for Daniels to remove it.
