The families of the Lily Mine disaster victims in Mpumalanga, have received R 200 000 in compensation along with the mutual fund benefits, two years after Pretty Nkambule, Yvonne Mnisi and Solomon Nyirenda were trapped underground and disappeared.
The Mineral Resources Department, on Wednesday, briefed Parliament on what’s currently happening at Lily Mine.

In terms of the families, the compensation of R200 000 has been paid to them, the mutual find benefits have been paid out to them and the provident fund benefits are in the process of being settled and will be paid very shortly.— Rob Devereux, Business rescue practitioner
