UPDATE: Joburg man who dumped dead dog claims there were no vets nearby - SPCA
This story has been updated.
A video showing a man dumping a dead dog on the streets and driving away has caused an outrage on social media with animal lovers calling him 'disgusting'.
The Sandton SPCA has identified the man as Adam Anderson, head of litigation at Sandton-based law firm Bowman Gilfillan.
SPCA General Manager, Jaco Pieterse, says they approached the law firm and Anderson confirmed his involvement during a telephonic conversation.
Anderson and his wife have since met with the SPCA to explain his actions.
Pieterse says the SPCA is not satisfied with the response from Bowman Gilfillan about their employees conduct.
The SPCA will be pursuing charges for illegal dumping of a carcass, Pieterse adds.
Listen to SPCA's response and update:
The man told the SPCA that he could not locate a nearby veterinary clinic in order to dispose of the dog's carcass.
We were informed that wife unfortunately drove over the dog by accident and the dog did not survive.

The lack of respect for an animal - even for one who had died - and the lack of respect for legislation, especially by someone who should be upholding the law, leaves us speechless
