Eyewitness News reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo speaks the high number of political killings in KZN last month.

Last month saw an increase in political violence in KwaZulu-Natal.

It has gotten worse since Nasrec. The remnants of that Nasrec conference is playing itself out.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

This year alone, we're sitting at at least five ANC members killed, allegedly at the hands of their fellow ANC members.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

I think both factions [of the ANC] are targeting each other, but at this stage it seems like the pro Senzo Mchunu, pro Cyril Ramaphosa camp is being targeted.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

EWN reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo also says KwaZulu-Natal is the ideal province in which to test the system of democracy.

She says KZN lends itself well as an illustration of democracy in society because there is no political party that can say it is safe in the province.

Until at the last ANC conference, we've always had someone from KZN in the ANC top six.

KZN has an important role to play, but that had dwindled since Nasrec.

There's been a lot of talk about unity, but unity can only be achieved with consistency and that's something I haven't picked up in the ANC in KZN.
