The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal will go ahead with its contentious provincial elective conference on Friday.
Last week, disgruntled members raised concern over the ongoing political killings including administrative and factional issues within the region, insisting that the conference be postponed.
Karima Brown sat down with senior Eyewitness News reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo to unpack the issues at play.
There are already threats of a court challenge. There have been several groupings both pro Jacob Zuma, pro Cyril Ramaphosa/pro Senzo Mchunu that have either already gone to court or threatened to.— Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter
The biggest issue both camps have raised is that the NEC has not been intervening but at the same time the people who have been tasked with intervening - here are always issues with how compromised they are.— Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter
