Is Zuma likely to have to fund his own legal expenses for his corruption case?

The National Director of Public Prosecutions turned down former President Jacob Zuma’s lawyers request to withdraw his corruption matter pending the resolution of issues around legal fees.

Director of the Centre for Constitutional Rights Phephelaphi Dube says Zuma can try and challenge the decision, but says it would not be a wise move.

Legally speaking he is very much at the end of the road and there is a sense of tiredness from the various courts.

We need to consider the fact that this is a man who has assets. Nkandla is probably one of the most famous of his assets, so in that sense he would obviously not qualify for legal aid in terms of the rules.
