[LISTEN] 'Shivambu did not say Momoniat is an anti-black racist' - Dali Mpofu

Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) chairperson advocate Dali Mpofu has defended remarks made by the party's deputy president Floyd Shivambu in Parliament on Tuesday.

Shivambu has received widespread criticism for objecting to Treasury’s deputy director-general Ismail Momoniat's presence at a finance committee meeting and calling him "un-African".

Floyd did not say Momoniat is an anti-black racist.

READ: I never said Momoniat is un-African - Shivambu

In South Africa, if we ever want to achieve equality we must first be honest about the cleavages that were created by apartheid in particular.

WATCH: EFF's Shivambu's comments are race baiting 101- Eusebius McKaiser

It is not the fault of Indian people that they were given better education, better health care, better housing than Africans. It's a fact of life, it was caused by apartheid but to deny that it means we will never be able to address it.

ALSO WATCH: 'Floyd Shivambu is clearly racist and misogynistic'

Host Eusebius Mckaiser put it to Mpofu that the Director General himself said he had delegated Momoniat to attend the meeting and did not feel he was undermined.

From the horse's mouth, the supposed victim of Ismail - the horse - says actually, my agency has not been undermined and in fact, I delegated Ismail to go to Parliament, now can you explain to me how that undermines African leadership or do we discount the DG's view?

Eusebius McKaiser

Yes, we can in a particular context. If I'm being sexist to my sister or my wife and she says no no it's fine, you know I like him to beat me up then we must not discount the view of the victim, that's nonsense.
