[LISTEN] Gauteng Ed MEC gives clarity over cases of misconduct at Parktown Boys

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says two of six Parktown Boys High School teachers who are facing allegations of misconduct will be removed from the school.

Lesufi addressed the media on Friday over allegations of racism, sexual misconduct, and assault at the school.

He speaks to Gugulethu Mhlungu, standing in for Joanne Joseph, on the afternoon drive show and says some of the accused have already resigned.

During the investigation by an independent panel of lawyers, we identified six teachers, for two of them, we had prima facie evidence - so by the time we charged them both those teachers resigned.

When the report was finalised, indeed the remaining four educators were implicated. Two who were employed by the SGB, they also subsequently resigned.

The two remaining teachers will be transferred to the district office which means they will be removed from the school so we can allow parents to give us consent to utilise these underage learners as witnesses in the disciplinary hearing.
