DA calls for Trade and Industry Minister to use his authority over Sabs lapses
A damning report by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), on Wednesday, shows that the Sabs may have aided and abetted Gupta corruption by issuing fraudulent certificates on coal sourced from the Gupta owned Tegeta mine.
Speaking to John Maytham, Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Minister Trade and Industry Dean Macpherson says it shows a deliberate and concerted effort to try and shortcut standards and protocols to test coal.
We now know that a special delivery of coal that came from the Brankfontein Mine on a Saturday evening - which was no doubt delivered by the Guptas handmaiden - to be tested under the cloak of darkness in a SABS laboratory, which produced a cooked result.Dean Macpherson, Democratic Alliance (DA) Show Minister Trade and Industry
He adds that he has been asking Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies to place SABS under administration and to suspend the board because the standards have dropped so low.
