New Cape Town water tariffs kick in

As of 1 July, new water tariffs come into effect in the City of Cape Town.

Among the changes to the tariff structure, a R115 water delivery charge.

Mayco member, Xanthea Limberg, says the City has realised that the way in which the tariffs were structured hasn't been resilient since the drought started.

We have lost a substantial amount of revenue and with consumption fluctuating we need a sustainable source of income and that is the motivation for the fixed water delivery charge.
