In 2014 business owner, mother, wife and ultra marathon runner Kathy Mann began getting sick.

Mann shared insights from her book 'Avoiding Burnout – the Seven Principles of Self-Preservation' and says she had to drastically change her life after her health was impacted by severe stress.
Her early symptoms were fatigue and headaches, before she developed sleep disturbance, tremors, heart palpitations and sweating.
The doctor later diagnosed her with Hashimoto's disease, a lifelong autoimmune form of hypothyroidism.
Mann discussed her personal journey and spoke about some of the principles of self-preservation, which include making time for self-care, addressing "energy vampires" and losing the guilt.
