5 taxi drivers shot and 2 taxis set alight in Tshwane CBD

There've been reports of taxi violence in the Pretoria CBD, in which a number of taxi drivers appear to have been injured.

Tshwane Saps spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Kweza says on Thursday morning there was a shooting incidence in Tshwane at the corner Madiba and Walter Sisulu Roads.

Where five taxi drivers were shot and injured and they were taken to a nearby hospital. Two taxis were also set alight as a result we have opened cases of malicious damage to property, attempted murder and taxi violence.

Colonel Noxolo Kweza, Tshwane SAPS spokesperson

She says she cannot confirm if there were any bystanders that were injured as a result of the incidence, however, they have arrested one suspect following an incident that happened in the same vicinity.

She adds that the police are at the scene monitoring the situation.
