UCT launches the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance

UCT has launched a Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance on Thursday - a living memorial of the former SA President.

Alan Hirsch, deputy head of the Policy Unit at UCT, says they have been in operation for the past six years as the Graduate School of Development Policy and Practice.

He says they have established themselves as an African centre with about 1 300 alumni from more than 30 African countries.

We have a Masters programme and executives short courses as well as emerging African leaders programme. We are building a network of progressive, sound minded African leaders.

We look at the kind of issues that challenge Africa, where good decisions are made but difficult to implement...

At the moment the programme focuses on people who are in positions of responsibilities, in government, NGO's and municipalities all over the continent.
