Telkom and SA Post office on strike
It has been a race against time to make sure that social grant recipients are paid.
After repeated deadlines were missed by Sassa to drop Cash Pay Master Services and the South African Post Office (Sapo) is now paying grants.
But there has been a number of glitches and the sheer numbers appear to have put Sapo on the backfoot.
Some people weren't paid, transactions were reversed and the system seems to have battled to cope.
Now to make matters, it appears there is a strike at the post office.
Speaking to Ray White on The Midday Report, General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) Aubrey Tshabalala says the strike started on Friday in the South African Post Office and in Telkom.
The strike is as a result of the negotiations that could not get a breakthrough. We started negotiations as early as February, so it was a coincidence that correlates with the Sassa payments grants.Aubrey Tshabalala, CWU General Secretary
