[LISTEN] Outa demands that fuel prices be capped at R15 per litre

The Democratic Alliance and the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse together with several taxi organisations have called on the government to act on the rising fuel costs.

Chief Operating Officer at Outa Ben Theron says they handed over a memorandum of demands to officials from the Department of Treasury.

At the moment we are over R16 per litre of petrol so what we are asking for is for it to be capped at R15. We are asking for a R1 decrease.

This will make it easier for people in South Africa to live. People are reaching a breaking point when it comes to the cost of living.

Theron says there are three things they are asking for:

  • Drop the fuel levy by R1 which implies the fuel will drop by R1.
  • The RAF should be put under administration because of the maladministration and corruption taking place there.
  • Something should be done at a political level.

We believe as Outa that a lot of money has left the country due to corruption. And the money needs to be brought back.
