Land grabs 'rob' legitimate residents waiting for houses - JHB Housing MMC

Listeners on Afternoon Drive with Joanne Joseph on Tuesday expressed concerns around land grabs in separate areas of Johannesburg.

A listener from Alexandra called in to say that land grabbers were building their structures under Eskom power lines close to Marlboro Station.

A second caller from Lenasia South said there were makeshift homes going up close to the Golden Highway.

Joburg MMC of Housing Dr Meshack van Wyk admits illegal land grabs pose a serious challenge to the City and are getting out of hand.

It happens in different areas, the one you are specifically referring to by the Golden Highway is called Univell at this present moment and there is quite a lot of discussion that is held about that.
