BLF opens case of negligence against man believed to be Malema's bodyguard

The Black First Land First (BLF) movement has opened a case of negligence against a man believed to be Julius Malema's bodyguard and alleged to have supplied Malema with an R5 rifle at a party rally this past weekend.

A video has gone viral on social media showing the EFF leader discharging what is believed to be a firearm at the event in East London. However, the EFF insists the weapon was not real.

Separate cases have been opened against Malema.

Eyewitness News reporter Kgomotso Modise has more on the story.

They have made their way to Hillbrow to open a charge of negligence against a man that they call Riaan Snyman who is believed to be the bodyguard. They are also calling for him to have his license revoked, that is if the firearm was real or licensed.

The BLF has distanced itself from the charges laid by AfriForum against Malema. They have said they do not believe in black on black fights so they do not want to sing the same chorus as Afriforum.
