AMCU warns of industrial action at Impala Platinum if job cuts go ahead

The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) says it will embark on an industrial action at Impala Platinum if a resolution is not reached in negotiations with the company.

Implats announced last week that it will be cutting over 13,000 jobs over the next two years as it seeks to restore profits.

Amcu says a consultative process will begin with the mining company to find ways to avoid this.

Eyewitness News reporter Thando Khubeka has more on the story.

They are hoping that Implats will come to the party and negotiate in good faith in the interests of workers because they were also accusing the mining company of prioritising profits over the livelihoods of workers.
