You may not have heard of Hedy Lamarr, but you owe this 1940s Hollywood star a great deal.

Inventions are easy for me to do. I don’t have to work on ideas; they come naturally.

Hedy Lamarr

The brains of people are more interesting than the looks I think.

Hedy Lamarr

Hedy Lamarr is most well-known for her roles in the 1940s movies “Algiers” and “Sampson and Delilah”, both of which were Oscar-nominated.

MGM studios dubbed her “The Most Beautiful Woman in the World”.

She is also famous for pioneering onscreen nudity in the 1933 movie “Ecstasy”.

Her greatest legacy, however, is her 1942 co-invention of frequency-hopping technology “spread spectrum communications”, the precursor to Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth.

She never received a cent from the multi-billion dollar industry her invention made possible.

To learn more about this remarkable woman, scroll down to watch a four-minute documentary:

American men, as a group, seem to be interested in only two things, money and breasts. It seems a very narrow outlook.

Hedy Lamarr

Any girl can be glamorous, all you have to do is stand still and look stupid.
