[LISTEN] 'Threats are not going to help the situation at Impala Platinum'
The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) has warned that it will embark on a strike if Impala Platinum goes ahead with the job cuts.
Breakfast show host Bongani Bingwa says Amcu's president Joseph Mathunjwa doesn't realise that the threats are not helping the situation.
He is also upset at what he suspects is the planned mechanisation of the mines. He says its now clear jobs will be cut to replace workers with machines and he is spitting fire. How dare they? We will bring them to their knees he says!Bongani Bingwa, Breakfast show host
Obviously, no-one is against paying workers what they are due but guess what? Machines don’t make these kinds of threats. They certainly don’t beat up fellow workers who might disagree. They don’t maim them or kill them.Bongani Bingwa, Breakfast show host
What Mathunjwa doesn’t realise is that maybe for the mine bosses mechanization will at some make threats like his irrelevant.Bongani Bingwa, Breakfast show host
