National Land Transport Amendment Bill public hearings continue today

The Western Cape continued its public hearings today ahead of moves to regulate companies, like Uber and Taxify.

The National Land Transport Amendment Bill - which some have dubbed the 'Uber Bill' - will see e-hailing services regulated and brought in line with other meter-taxi operators.

The provincial hearings kicked off on Tuesday night in George and will conclude later on Wednesday in Cape Town.

Chair of the provincial standing committee on Transport and Public Works, Nceba Hinana explains why drive-sharing apps need regulating.

In order for us to accept the quality services that they are providing there needs therefore to be a regulation that is going to control and monitor the competition amongst all the stakeholders.
