MDC Alliance spokesperson confirms Tendai Biti has not been arrested

Tensions in Zimbabwe seem to be increasing by the day.

The country witnessed violent protest after ruling Zanu PF was declared the winner of the elections.

On Wednesday, senior Zimbabwean opposition Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC-A) figure Tendai Biti was arrested as he tried to flee to neighbouring Zambia to seek asylum.

Tendai Biti is somewhere between Lusaka and Harare but I'm not sure if he has crossed the border.

The courts have given him to the custody of the immigration officials in Zambia, not necessarily under arrest until he crosses the border.

The police have a clumsy charge of accusing him of announcing results which he did not do and there are no basis for such accusations.

Dr Sibanda says Biti did not announce any results, he just said that the MDC Alliance had just announced the results.
