WCED 'extremely concerned' by recent child abductions in Cape Town
Education MEC in Western Cape Debbie Schäfer says she is worried by the spate of abductions happening in Cape Town.
She has confirmed that an 11-year-old girl and an 18-year-old high school pupil were abducted on their way to and from schools in the Zonnebloem area.
The 18-year-old went missing for a week before being dumped in Bellville - the 11-year-old was also later found and returned to her worried family.
Schäfer says they have asked the police to increase visibility in the area to ensure that learners are well protected.
We haven't heard reports in other areas, hopefully, they can concentrate all efforts on this area. But it is extremely worrying.Debbie Schäfer, Western Cape Education MEC
Meanwhile, Idols winner Paxton Fielies, KFM's Carl Wastie as well as MEC Schäfer will be launching an anti-bullying campaign in Mitchells Plain on Thursday morning.

The message is that those who film incidents of bullying are also perpetrators.
