CapeTalk, in partnership with the Dis-Chem Foundation, has donated R50 000 to Friends of Child Protection. In line with National Child Protection Week the donation will go towards purchasing products for comfort packs which are given to young abuse and rape survivors.
Friends of Child Protection prepares over 1 000 comfort packs every 60 days and distributes these to hospitals, courts and child protection organisations across the Western Cape. The packs are age and gender appropriate. They include toiletries, soft toys and other items distributed to traumatised children to soothe and assist them.
It’s our hope that the donation will help them prepare around 3 000 comfort packs for children.— Penny Stein - Dis-Chem Foundation
CapeTalk Breakfast Show host, Kieno Kammies, spoke to the organisation’s Chairperson Florence Borcher this morning. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to CapeTalk and the Foundation, explaining their only wish is to help children. Like many other charities the organisation faces financial challenges.
The comfort packs also include items like clean underwear, a facecloth, soap and a snack pack.
