[LISTEN] Msimanga responds to corruption allegations against his administration
Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga has given city manager, Moeketsi Mosola seven days to motivate why he should not be suspended.
Mosola has been issued with a notice of intention to suspend pending an independent investigation into allegations of procurement irregularities against him. He has been accused of flouting regulations in the awarding of a R12 billion engineering consultancy company GladAfrica.
Msimanga joined Karima on her show, to share details on the tender and answer questions surrounding the alleged irregular appointment of city officials.
Responding to the alleged irregular appointment of EMS head Previn Govender's qualifications, Msimanga explains the processes that is followed when hiring management.
The city manager has the final say in terms of who gets appointed and the process that is employed. What had been done before, is they are subjected to an external verification body that does preliminary interviews, what will be submitted to Mayco would be a report and set of results that emanate from the interviews, that is what was given to me...Solly Msimanga, Tshwane mayor
