[LISTEN] Local support network offers help to families affected by dementia

Dementia can have such a profound impact on so many families.

Capetonian Dr Alice Ashwell created Dementia Connections SA to provide support and coaching to those who love and care for people living with dementia.

Dr Ashwell, an educator and life coach, says the organisation was founded in memory of her mother, Elizabeth, who lived with dementia for about 15 years.

Dr Ashwell opened up about her personal experience and what role her initiative plays in spreading awareness.

I think for most of us who experience this condition, it's the early stages that are particularly troubling... the sudden realisation that things are deteriorating rapidly.
