Recruitment guru Zanele Luvuno says a CV needs to be tailored with each job application and modified for each specific role and company culture.

She says that a CV is considered in conjunction with one's digital and social media profiles, such as LinkedIn and Facebook.

Luvuno shares a few tips on the dos and don'ts for CV writing and job interviews.

Some CV advice:

  • do not send generic CVs
  • tailor-make your CV for the relevant job specs
  • do not include hobbies in your CV
  • make the details of your CV succinct
  • place your most recent qualification at the top and work backwards

Some interview advice:

  • do your research about the organisation
  • dress to fit the corporate culture of the company
  • be prepared to be asked about your CV or any other written submission
  • ask the company about what to expect in terms of the interview structure
  • the traits you share about yourself need to be linked to the role

The CV leads to you being able to get an interview.
