The dos and don'ts for CV writing and job interviews
A well-constructed CV is the marketing tool used by job-seekers to get their foot in the door.
Recruitment guru Zanele Luvuno says a CV needs to be tailored with each job application and modified for each specific role and company culture.
She says that a CV is considered in conjunction with one's digital and social media profiles, such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
Luvuno shares a few tips on the dos and don'ts for CV writing and job interviews.
Some CV advice:
- do not send generic CVs
- tailor-make your CV for the relevant job specs
- do not include hobbies in your CV
- make the details of your CV succinct
- place your most recent qualification at the top and work backwards
Some interview advice:
- do your research about the organisation
- dress to fit the corporate culture of the company
- be prepared to be asked about your CV or any other written submission
- ask the company about what to expect in terms of the interview structure
- the traits you share about yourself need to be linked to the role
