Eusebius responds to callers who debate the decolonisation of South Africa.

Callers on The Eusebius Mckaiser Show share different views on the open line.

Louis, a caller on The Eusebius Mckaiser Show says in recent times there seems to be an absolute obsession for eradicating any traces of colonialism or European culture.

Without any thought given to maybe utilising that which is good in it for the future of the country.

Louis, caller

It is no accident that western countries and western culture have dominated the world for probably more than 500 years or so.

Louis, caller

So it can't be all bad. And if you look at some of the basic drivers of the west's success, you find things like private property rights; you find things like science and medicine that has been allowed to develop free from religious or cultural fear.

Louis, caller

He adds that he thinks to act as if this is all bad and we must get rid of it is to throw the baby away with the bath water.

Eusebius countered his stance and said de-coloniality and anti-colonialism are not the same as anti-western or anti-white.

It is always interesting for me when a word or a concept like de-colonialism or de-coloniality is uttered how it is misheard.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

It is like when we talk about whiteness as an ideology and some people will take that to mean all white people.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

As a speaker, you have to be very clear about what it is that you mean but as a listener, you also have to examine why it is that you hear what you hear.

He adds that people need to understand the context of the words used.

Des another caller says he is a political observer and the circus of politics in the country is alarming.

The one that sticks out for me as a sore thumb is Julius Malema, he is a snake of the highest order and a lier.

Des, caller

I will give you some examples, wasn't Julius that said he will kill for Zuma? Who became his greatest opponent?

Des, caller

He also questions whether it wasn't the same Julius who said he will never get involved with a corrupt organisation which is the ANC?

Wasnt it Julius who said all whites are racists and yet he has whites in his party and he recently said we need the whites.

Des, caller

Other callers added their views about the country's politics.
