Maseko testifies on how he was asked to redirect govt advertising to the New Age

Former GCIS CEO Themba Maseko has come forward with evidence of how the Guptas, with former President Jacob Zuma's assistance, tried to force him to redirect R600 million of government advertising to the New Age newspaper.

Maseko is the fourth witness to testify at the state capture inquiry.

He has told the commission that he received a call from the former president instructing him to assist the Guptas.

Eyewitness News reporter Bonga Dlulane has more on the story.

The former CEO saying he got to the meeting, where they wanted to talk about him channeling advertising money the New Age, something he says angered him. He relayed it to the ANC in an internal process and it was part of his statement to the public protector [Thuli Madonsela].

He says the Guptas threatened to take care of him and make sure he complies.
