Professor Brian Williams says government as a whole need to work together to solve the Cape Flats violence.

Professor Brian Williams says peace in the Cape Flats can be achieved.

He says that the national government needs to work together with the Provincial government and the City of Cape Town.

There has to be a reconceptualisation of the nature of the problem.

Professor Brian Williams

You are not going to be able to deal with the issue of violence without getting the police to do the work they that they need to do.

Professor Brian Williams

If we recognise that we have a war zone, why can't all the crime intelligence in the country combined use their power as an intelligence network to afford knowledge on what is going on?

Professor Brian Williams

I don't hold the view that the army doesn't have a role. The army has a role.

Professor Brian Williams

You have to have the army to play a supportive capacity, not as a police force. They need to support the police.

Professor Brian Williams

Listen to why Professor Williams says the army is necessary...
