I want to be part of a system that equally recognises men & women - Carol Bouwer

In this segment of South Africans Doing Great Things, #NightTalk host Gugu Mhlungu chats to television producer, former actress, and the founder of Carol Bouwer productions about the Mbokodo Awards.

Bouwer says that she feels like the Government was very vocal about the gains of men, but not those of women.

As a result, in my feedback I mentioned that in ten years time, we will be in a situation where all the men have been rewarded, and only then we will start searching for women to recognise.

I want to be part of a system that's equatable, and fair, and recognizes excellence in both men and women equally.

Bouwer says that she thought that the solution to this problem would be an accolade in South Africa, that recognises women and what they have done for society.
