Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) is questioning large amounts of money spent by the Department of Public Works on ministerial housing.
This comes after reports that the Department of Public Works spent about R500,000 refurbishing braai areas at houses allocated to ministers.
Speaking to Bongani Bingwa Scopa Member Nyami Booi says the spending is very alarming and shocking.
Usually, these figures are not transparent, you hear that one company is getting this amount of R30 million on cleaning curtains and you start wondering why is this figure not made public.— Nyami Booi, Scopa Member
He says they are very shocked about this type of spending.
