China is not trying to re-colonise Africa insists Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the relationship between China and Africa is premised on the fundamental right of the African people to determine their own future.

Ramaphosa has defended the Chinese government’s multi-billion-rand investments in Africa and says the country is not trying to re-colonise countries on the continent.

Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, Professor in the Department of Political Sciences at the University of Pretoria Siphamandla Zondi says the President's stance makes sense.

Because colonialism means an institutionalised form of inequality that is deliberate and conscious.
