Human error may have caused Selby train crash - Metrorail

While officials are investigating the exact cause of a train collision in the Elloff Extension in Selby, Johannesburg, Metrorail says the accident may be the result of human error.

At least 112 people were injured after two passenger trains collided on Tuesday morning.

No fatalities have been reported.

Eyewitness News reporter Tshegofatso Mathe has more on the story.

Metrorail's Lillian Mofokeng says...they are using a manual authorisation system because they are upgrading their signalling system. She says both of these trains were authorised to be on the same lane at the same time.

She believes that human error caused this problem but she says they are investigating to fully understand what transpired.
