Mandisa Mashego has been elected as the Economic Freedom Fighter's chairperson in Gauteng.

Mashego says she has to fight patriarchy and misogyny within her party. She, however, says that patriarchy within the EFF is symptomatic of what is happening in our society.

Speaking to Xolani Gwala on the Afternoon drive, she explains:

I'm a 45-year-old woman and I would be called a gogo but there would be a man who is my age and is also contesting but akabizwa umkhulu.

Mandisa Mashego, Gauteng EFF chairperson
