Reports this morning indicate that the City of Joburg doesn't have enough firefighting engines, at least no fire engines adequately resourced to fight fires that are on the top of buildings..

City of Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba says the city faces massive challenges.
Mashaba says the city is not fully equipped to deal with fires after the Bank of Lisbon Building in the CBD caught fire earlier last week.
Johannesburg emergency services are continuing to monitor some of the 'hotspots' at the building.
If you look at the city of Johannesburg in terms of the buildings, there is no amount of fire equipment and training to deal with the crises we are sitting with.

Buildings have been ignored and neglected for many years where there has been the breakdown of the total rule of law including even government itself.

He adds that when he raised these matters, senior government officials called him names.
