City of Tshwane promises to purify the water in Hammanskraal

Almost two months ago, the City of Tshwane promised to purify the water in Hammanskraal yet the residents have dirty water running from their taps again say callers to The Breakfast Show.

Speaking to Africa Melane, City of Tshwane MMC for Utility Services Darryl Moss says the water was of good quality the whole month of August.

We had a meeting with the Hamaanskraal Residents Forum at the end of last week and presented them with the test results of the water, showing from when it wasn't too good to when it got better.

He says they then arranged with residents that they would withdraw the water tankers that had been servicing the area.

Then on Friday, we suddenly got reports that the water wasn't good again, literally one day after the meeting. And when we checked the plant, we found that there was a mysterious blockage in one of the chemical feeder pipes.

He says they identified the problem and have remedied the situation and the water is back to being clean again.
