There is a new bug in town.

And this little bug is dangerous and destroying trees and surrounding plants.

The polyphagous shot hole borer was first reported in Johannesburg as it threatens to kill trees across the country and has already decimated the old English oaks of Knysna.

It's a terrible bug and so tiny that you hardly notice it.

It eats its way into the tree and it makes massive colonies that it grows fungus within the tree. The fungus is what kills the tree.

What's frightening is that by the time that the beetle has killed a large tree, you will find that its got probably hundreds of thousands of inside of it. And when those beetles emerge, the females fly.
