Grassy Park community calls for total ban of life-size toy gun replicas

The Grassy Park Community Policing Forum (CPF) is calling for toy guns that are life-size replicas of the real deal to be outlawed.

Spokesperson for the Grassy Park Community Police Forum, Phillip Bam says these replicas perpetuate the culture of violence in their community.

He says "children need to be taught from a young age not to play with guns like they are taught not to play with fire."

It is very scary when you go out of the house and you find these youngsters running around with these life-size looking guns.

Phillip Bam, Spokesperson for the Grassy Park Community Police Forum

When these kids run around with these guns in a violent situation where there are gangsters and the police have to protect themselves and they don't have time to assess whether it's a real gun or not, some child is going to be injured.

Phillip Bam, Spokesperson for the Grassy Park Community Police Forum

The other thing is that they perpetuate a culture of violence that I think we have to address.

Phillip Bam, Spokesperson for the Grassy Park Community Police Forum

This a is a problem of imitating the lifestyle of a gangster, talking like a gangster and now even acting like a gangster with a gun. These are some of the reasons we believe these things are not good for our children and should be banned.
