Petition mooted to allow time off work to care for elderly

Hendri Terblanche is petitioning to have the laws amended to allow leave to be given children to look after their elderly parents or grandparents.

He says South African employment laws allow parents to take time off from work to look after their children but not the other way around.

Our parents have dedicated the rest of their lives to take care of us the best of their abilities and now it is our turn to take care of our parents.

Hendri Terblanche, Activist

Now I am petitioning to have the family responsibility leave amended so that we can take better care of our senior citizens.

Hendri Terblanche, Activist

Terblanche has been invited to appear before the Select Committee on Petitions and Executive Undertakings on October 10 with regards to this petition.
