De Lille to take legal action against those who caused her "reputational harm"

The outgoing mayor of Cape Town Patricia de Lille says she was officially informed by the Hawks that she won't be prosecuted for the case of bribery levelled against her.

The case is in relation to the allegations of bribery by businessman Anthony Faul with which the DA had threatened her.

However, the DA has stated it did not lay any charges against her.

De Lille says the DA should have been careful when dealing with this matter because Faul sat on this matter for five years before going public.

To date, I haven't been found guilty of anything I'm being accused of and I've always said that the truth will suffice. I am very relieved that justice has prevailed and once again I've been vindicated.

De Lille says she has been working with her lawyers, putting together evidence of the smear campaigns against her and will be making an announcement on Wednesday on who she will be suing for defamation.

I have taken an enormous amount of abuse and all of these allegations which have spread far and wide has caused me great reputational harm.
