Charges against Dramat and Sibiya withdrawn, Maluleke's case remains in place

The State has provisionally withdrawn charges against former Hawks head Anwar Dramat and former Gauteng Hawks boss Shadrack Sibiya in the North Gauteng High Court.

Dramat and Sibiya were facing charges of organised crime, kidnapping, violations of the Immigration Act and obstruction of justice, following the extradition of five Zimbabweans wanted by police in that country.

Speaking to Xolani Gwala, EWN reporter Barry Bateman says on Monday the state revealed that they had reviewed and favourably considered the representation from Dramat and Sibiya.

And withdrawing the case against them, however, the third accused Lieutenant-Colonel Lesley Maluleke, the case against him will remain in place, however, he has been given a postponement to give Maluleke an opportunity to also make representation.

Gwala also spoke to former Gauteng Hawks Head General Shadrack Sibiya who says he can't say that he is relieved by the ruling.

I am disappointed because the cloud still hangs over our heads. And this is actually manufactured evidence against us and there is no case against us. The state is clearly not willing to have this matter heard by the courts they just used it to remove us from office.
